Samuel Huayanay

LIMA, PERU

Don Samuel Huayanay was born in Canta, a village near Lima. He moved to Lima 60 years ago because he lost his father being very young and his family moved to the big city in search of a better life.

He has almost always lived in the district of El Agustino, where he learnt the metal work using copper, brass, and silver. At his beginnings he started drawing Inka style vases, until the time he decided to create his own workshop with his wife.

He lost his wife many years ago and has raised his 6 children on his own. He taught them the skill and has always worked with them.

There are few artisans who are specialized in this craft, so it is important for Don Samuel to make sure his sons continue with this tradition
